Good morning, good afternoon! I’m sharing some ideas and activities I’m developing in the artistic field.

After a period of reflection and maturing of ideas, I am returning to painting canvases in a larger format. In this period recently passed, the year 2022/23, I did a lot of studies and experiments on painting and approaches. 

This painting, Still Life with Hamburger, has a special meaning. It marks a period of transition. Several dilemmas were resolved, mainly in the conceptual field,  when I started organizing my ideas about art. 

I remember an occasion when I was traveling in Europe, in a well-known fast-food restaurant on Place de Clichy. The bread on the table, the scenery of the surrounding streets, and clippings of images from different times came to mind. In an exercise in empathy, I transported my imagination to those times, and I thought about human behavior, the individual and the collective, objects, technologies of its times, and so on. 

And the question arose of what is common for people from different times and cultures. 

Facts led me to analyze aspects of philosophy and psychology, especially Jung’s ideas about archetypes and the collective unconscious. It led me to a reinterpretation, perhaps different from the conventional of timeless art.

Also, an empirical experiment on how people interpret an image, an artwork, led me to the idea of concept layers. The background, the composition, the colors, the mood, etc., also communicate emotions, often subliminally.

These are ways I’ve tried to follow, representing these ideas in images with a certain romanticism/minimalism.
