Traveling through northern Spain, and a church any of the past centuries. In an exercise of empathy, I imagined that time. About life in past times and the influence of the Church. Many people following leadership, and some, perhaps few, freely seeking their own paths. Many things went through my mind, but I prefer each one to interpret according to their understanding.
I used the traditional painting approach, a monochrome background, in grisaille and earthy colors. After dry I painted layers of colors and some glazes and scumblings exploring the oils’ transparency. At the end I added figures, slightly distorted, with impastos, in a contemporary style. It is an experiment, a search for new syntheses to art.
